BONJOUR TOUT LE MONDE! (Day 1 & Day 2)

Hey everyone! Finally got around to putting up a "Travel Blog". I'll try to write as often as I can about everything and try to take as many pictures as I can (although I cannot assure you that they will be pictures of high quality or that there will be pictures for that matter. But anyway, please bear with me as I begin this new task. Day 1 and a bit (samedi le 29 juin et dimanche le 30 juin)- Flights My goodness, the security took forever! After checking in and rushing through security, I made it just in time as they were just calling boarding for general passengers. After settling in to the flight (realizing that almost the whole flight comprised of Explore participants travelling to different parts of the country) and finding that there was an empty seat behind me I watched the airplane on the little map of Canada as it moved from YVR closer to YUL Montreal. I promised myself I would get to the movies as soon as we crossed to Alberta.

After scrolling through all the movies and realizing there was nothing that was interesting to me, I decided to watch a few episodes of New Girl! After watching an episode of New Girl and a cup of Coke, I started on my second episode, determined to not fall asleep. However, being a red eye flight, my body gave in and I slept right through the flight. I woke up and looked at the map again, the map said that we were just over Manitoba.... 'wow,' I thought, that must have been a really short nap. But right after I had that realization the Captain comes on and says that we are preparing for descent. After deplaning I had just enough time to buy a slice of Banana bread from Starbucks and then run to my connecting flight. The second flight was much more rickety and was definitely more rough than the flight to YUL, but we made it!

Upon stepping out of the airport we were greeted with sweltering heat and humidity. Never in my life, have I felt the need to shower so quickly. All the explore participants from BC took a cab to the university and there we were greeted by our monitors. We got all our keys and information etc and went to our rooms. To my surprise, as I walked in to my room I saw a private washroom (*happydance*) and my own microwave and mini fridge! :)

After settling in we decided to explore the area and look for lunch, instead we walked 20 minutes past a hospital and the radio station to end up eating ice cream at a little ice cream shack. Nevertheless, it was a great adventure. We then had dinner and some ice breakers and some free time (in which we used to study for the placement test happening on Canada day)

Overall, the first day was less awkward than I expected and I'm definitely looking forward to the days to come. :p
