Hey everyone! I've been swamped with work and assignments, my final project presentation is due tomorrow morning and the final exam is happening next week! I can't believe the first semester is almost over! Time flies!
So on July 8 nothing really happened. I went to class where we did some revision on verb tenses and learned about french culture then after class I had lunch, (this was one of the more exciting things that happened that day) WE HAD BBQ PULLED PORK EXCEPT WITH BEEF! It was amazing, it was almost like having food at home. It really made me miss home and everyone back home! Everyone here is starting to feel a little home sick, especially everyone from British Columbia, we are pretty much "land locked" and we are definitely not used to that and there are no mountains!
Just looking at this food makes my mouth water, there is also in this picture salad, onions, tuna, a cookie, soup and caramel pudding :)
After lunch we got our money for groceries and then we went to our workshop of the day. It was pretty fun but very much like the other 2 improv workshops that we had previously.
After the workshop I went back to my room and did adult things like wash dishes and DOING THE LAUNDRY! dun dun dun.....

my laundry adventures were pretty simple and straight forward, I think the hardest thing was loading money onto my laundry card in order to do the laundry. Here at the university they charge $1.75 per load in the washer and per load in the dryer, I'm not sure that whether that is expensive or not but since they only let us load $10 or $20s we are going to do quite a bit of laundry in order to not have money left on the card. The stupid thing is I put in $10 but I can only do 5 loads, there isn't enough money to do 6 but if I want to top it off so that I can do one more load I need to load another $10 onto the card.....
Anyway, after that I worked on homework and then prepared for dinner!

guess what I had for dinner!? I'm pretty sure you can guess by now!
But don't lose hope, there will be more colourful meals to come!

Day 10- (le 9 juillet) CRUISE!
So on July 9, it was like any other normal day, getting up, going to school and then having lunch. EXCEPT, lunch was AMAZING! IT WAS INDIVIDUAL SIZED PIZZAS THAT I ADDED ONIONS TO (in case you didn't notice, I have taken a liking to eating raw red onions, they are delicious! You should try it some time!)
After lunch, instead of doing homework, I took a nap for an hour and half :) teenagers need nap time too!
After that we went on a lobster tour/cruise ( lobster= homard in french)
On route we saw lots of beautiful greenery just like BC, I'm not going to put pictures because you can probably go to your backyard and see that. But as we were nearing the water and getting glimpses of the water, everyone on the bus would collectively sigh and get super excited. I was jumping for joy as I left the bus because I could finally smell the familiar smell of steveston.
After a lot of explanations and a demonstration on how to remove the shell of a lobster and eat lobster the Acadian way, we finally go to try! It was very very good, the captain of the boat gave us some tips that I will share with you:

| we reached the water! FINALLY! |
1. To cook lobster one must go from hot to cold. Just when the lobster is cooked immerse it in cold water so that the cooking stops and the meat will peel away from the shell more easily when you eat it.
2. You always put the lobster belly up so that all the juices are retained, don't put it belly down or there will be no lobster juices
3. To crack lobster all you need to do is find a joint bend it a bit and bend it in the direction opposite that of the way it is supposed to go. (If you would like a demonstration, I will happily show you after I come home, if you provide the lobster that is :p)
If you think we dipped lobster in butter that would be false, all I had with my lobster was a plain bun, potato salad and coleslaw.
Are you ready? IT IS THAT TIME AGAIN!

Day 11 (le 10 juillet)- Cup noodle and Lemon tea
Today, began like every other day, I got up, got ready and went to school. After school, we went to have lunch. What did I have for lunch you might ask? The answer is quite simple: sausages, onions and rice.
Unfortunately I completely forgot to take a picture, but it is just as I described it was sausages and onions pan fried and non Asian rice. No, I didn't forget to take a picture because the food was so tasty, I simply forgot and honestly, today's lunch did not look very appetizing. BUT NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER! It was not bad actually, it was definitely different and lacked a little taste but all was well. I simply put a little but of the chicken soup onto my rice and added some more RED ONIONS to my food :)
Again, I'm sorry I forget to take a picture but today has been pretty stressful. I have been working on my project since 4 o'clock and it is currently 11 and we just finished!
Anyway, after we had lunch we decided to go buy groceries at a different grocery store since the one that the program takes us to is quite expensive. We knew that there were a few grocery stores near the mall so we decided to take the bus to the mall instead of walking.
After waiting for 30 minutes the bus finally comes and pretty much takes us on the entire loop before dropping us off at the mall. Here we went to sobeys and I bought some microwavable Shepard's pie and pasta with chicken (I had this for dinner) then we walked to the Atlantic super store which is basically the Canadian superstore in Vancouver. Here we found lots of different food items and I happened to stumble upon the Asian food isle! Praise the Lord because I was definitely missing my Chinese food. I was able to find lemon tea, miso soup, rice and Chinese cup noodle! There was also pockey and different types of sauces and Chinese chips!
and this is what I bought today! I managed to stay well below my allotted amount for two weeks!
I was so excited when I saw the lemon tea, I decided that I needed a taste of home so I got it! :)

oh, like usual I had some chips to accompany my dinner and I left the out for a little bit and they became stale, I'm guess that it has to do with the humidity, but today has actually been really fresh and we had a lot of wind. Nothing like the last week where you would sweat buckets.

MAN VS MICROWAVE
Surprisingly I am surviving on just the microwave, as you can see I haven't had an frozen dinners yet! But I have had a lot of prepackaged meat and prepackaged soups, on the bright side, this week I have cherries, lemons, a watermelon, apples, cucumber and salad to eat!
I haven't bought a lot of fresh meat but my friend actually bought a slow cooker at the mall so we are all going to have a good meal once in a while!
I'll keep you updated about my food situation but so far its pretty good!
The only thing that is a pain is that there is no hot water, I need to boil it in the microwave each time I want some, it can get to be quite tedious but what else am I going to do with so much free time?
Stay tuned for more! See you all soon!
